In adolescence, I started keeping a journal as a hobby. I called it Just the Normal Day's Bullsh*t. I wanted to normalize my experience with dysthymia. Later I was approached by Robyn Wheeler, the author of the successful book Born Mad to share my story. At the time I wrote it anonymously because I was afraid how sharing my mental illness might affect my job opportunities. Fu*k the stigma. Now I blog therapeutically (and more periodically if we are being honest).

Moody Gem is a brand I fell in love with creating as I began to grow in my self-love and self-worth. I embrace the full spectrum of who I am, and now I want to celebrate the negative and the positive .
Yes, I am moody. As someone who has struggled with my mental health, I searched for experiences like mine to understand depression and anxiety. Instead of looking for someone like me who represented the struggle, I decided that I would be visible.
Yes, I am a gem. I always dreamed of a career in fashion and writing but never knew if I could turn it into a reality. Yet here I am!

I've been called two things most of my life: One is moody and I'd like to think it's because I'm a creative and an artist at heart. The other has been a gem. I love to help others and be a resource to folks in my life. I guess it's the teacher in me.
